If you love the look of real flowers and plants but can't seem to keep them alive then you should definitely consider silk plants, trees and flowers instead of the real thing. Opponents of silk flowers often claim they don't look realistic. That may be true for some flowers but not for all. There are handcrafted silk flowers and plants that look just like live ones. You just have to make sure you shop with the right store and know what to look for. The number one thing to avoid is plastic anything. Plastic stems tell the world your flowers are fake.

Instead, go for wire stems wrapped in fabric. Also, look at the texture of the leaves and blossoms and compare them to the real thing. Some silk flowers look just like real ones on both sides of the leaves and blossoms which provides realism from any angle. You don't want a leaf or petal that looks great from the top but fake from the bottom. Another trend in the world of fake flowers is the silk flower placed in a glass vase with acrylic water. Acrylic water hardens and gives the illusion of water but really isn't anywhere close to it.

From a distance, this creates the look of fresh cut flowers in a vase of water. Only you will know that the flowers and even the water are fake. Of course someone could tell if they got up close but certainly not from a distance. Silk trees are another trend for homes and offices and are ideal because they make gorgeous decor items but never need watering or trimming. You can find palm trees and other types of trees which are the perfect size for your living room, bedroom or office.

You can buy silk plants, trees and flowers on the Internet. There are many different online stores ranging from small to large that sell all kinds of silk botanicals. Shopping online makes it very simple to compare items and prices from different stores before making a purchase. And as any smart shopper knows, comparison shopping can make the difference between paying too much and getting a great deal. While shipping costs will usually be quite reasonable for flowers and plants they may be a bit high for trees simply because they are larger items.
